President Obama Against Legalizing Marijuana
As a Houston Criminal Defense Attorney I pay close attention to the national news concerning legalization of marijuana.
Perhaps, it was the way the question was asked, but President Obama was clear that he did not feel that legalizing marijuana would help our economy. In fact, he was quite flippant with his response for a question that he admitted was asked a lot about by the general public. This from a President that is an admitted "inhaler" of marijuana.
As most of the responses suggest, you do not need to be a criminal defense attorney to know that the Government is wasting a lot of money prosecuting marijuana cases.

I just don't understand. This would really help the economy. I wish others would see it that way. Perhaps one day in the future.
It would help the economy by taxing, decrease reliance on illegal importation, it would reduce crime immensely. I'm not a marijuana smoker but I'm all for it. I think we are a very hypocritical society in which manufactured cigarettes with chemical additives, and alcohol (a more intrusive and dangerous drug than MJ) are perfectly legal, while marijuana, a PLANT is illegal. Somebody slap me in the face and tell me what we're missing here...
